The Egmont Key Alliance
On the Gulf Side of Egmont Key

Just off shore to the west of Egmont Key are two locations that are great snorkel/dive sites.

First, is the USS Narcissus, a Civil War era tug that sank in 1866 and is in the process of becoming an Underwater Archaeological Preserve. There will be a bronze plaque underwater that commemorates the ship and the sailors lost there.

Further to the south are the remains of Batteries Burchstead and Page that were at one time part of the island but have been lost to the severe erosion of Egmont Key. This is accessible only by boat due to the distance from shore.

Although these sites are not a part of the State Park, due to their proximity to Egmont Key, the are easily visited by private boat or ferry. Click on the links to find out more about these places.
